What is AURORA ?

Since October 2023, UPEC, along with its Faculty of Economics and Management, has been a full member of the Aurora Alliance, a European network of universities dedicated to transforming higher education.
Created in 2020 with the support of the European Commission, Aurora brings together 9 research universities and 7 academic and non-academic partners across 13 European countries.
Its goal: to develop joint projects between institutions, promote student mobility, and offer innovative courses co-designed by partner universities while putting academic excellence at the service of major societal challenges (climate, inclusion, digital transformation, peace, etc.).

Aurora’s objectives

UPEC’s integration into Aurora enables the Faculty of Economics and Management to:

  • Implement a virtual campus to open doors to all learners
  • Develop smooth and effective mobility practices as well as open and accessible study programs
  • Enhance students’ general academic and personal skills alongside subject-specific learning
  • Use internationalization to improve the quality of educational offerings and learning outcomes for all learners
  • Address societal needs and challenges, exploring topics beyond traditional academic boundaries
  • Integrate inclusive, student-centered teaching and learning approaches
  • Support research to create favorable conditions for collaboration among Aurora Alliance researchers
  • Establish strong engagement structures with local and regional communities and strengthen collaboration with universities in Central and Eastern Europe
  • Commit to sustainable development in education, research, societal service, internal organization and administration, and external collaborations

Aurora vs Erasmus+ : what are the differences ?

Unlike Erasmus+, which relies on long physical mobility (a semester or a year at a partner European university), Aurora offers more flexible mobility formats: short stays, hybrid (on-site + online), or fully virtual. Opportunities are also more frequent and spread throughout the year, whereas Erasmus+ only allows departures twice a year.
Aurora also enables involvement in international projects and collaborative online courses. It is another way to experience Europe, better suited for students who cannot or do not wish to go abroad for a long period.
